I realized that my blog seems a bit shallow, with a rather waffly paragraph from me about a fashion inspiration, followed by some high street and designer clothes that represent that person's style. However, I really am not that shallow, although I will have to check with my ' truthful' family members. I am not saying fashion is shallow, although some people do see it that way, in fact I believe fashion is a very deep subject, that allows people to become someone they always wanted to be through design. It allows the seven year old to get excited when she sneaks into her mother's room and discovers red lipstick for the first-time; the five year old who falls down the stairs in her mothers heels ( yes that was me); the thirteen year old to think for herself, choose her own clothes and become someone she would admire; the 18 year old to buy her first pair of expensive heels with a few first paychecks; the boy from Nebraska who used to read Elle and Vogue secretly to become what he always dreamed of; and the grandma to look back and think I looked gorgeous.. because she did.
Without fashion we would all walk around, like cave men, both never having changed our clothing, shaved and worn make up, but also lost without a sense of identity that is provided by fashion. Fashion allows you to choose, be it black leather pants or orange skater skirt, so choose wisely, I know Coco, Donatella and Anna did.
